Non medical prescribing
Welcome to the BDNG non medical prescribing home page. The BDNG are committed to the development of safe and effective nurse prescribing, to the extent that as a professional organisation we have supported the development of a nurse prescribing sub-committee. The success of this group has, in turn, enabled the development of a support group for BDNG members who become nurse prescribers and in an advisory and supportive to those members considering becoming a non medical prescriber
Position statement
We recognise each nurse’s own responsibility to ensure that their name is visible on the professional register and undertake mandatory Continuing Professional Development and will through networking share best practice and support other nurses in their professional development.
The Sub Committee
The nurse prescribing sub committee consists of 5 experienced dermatology nurses who practise in a variety of settings and geographical locations. The committee Chair is Sharon Hulley and the Secretary is Sandra Hanlon. The committee aims are as follows:
- To facilitate the development of a dermatology non medical prescribing support group and organise annual meetings to promote networking and sharing of good practice
- To make available, useful and easily accessible information in relation to non medical prescribing
- To respond to relevant consultation documents as they arise on behalf of the BDNG and TGA
- To liaise with the British Association of Dermatologists and patient support groups
- To monitor and evaluate the impact of nurse prescribing within dermatological service provision
- To support and review research related to nurse prescribing
- To support the development of high quality dermatology prescribing training for nurse prescribers
