Introduction
Welcome to Glasgow 2009.
I would like to welcome you to the wonderful city of Glasgow for this year's 19th Annual Conference. This is the third time the British Dermatological Nursing Group Conference has been held in this city. The last time we were in Glasgow was in 2005 which was an excellent conference and I ams ure this one will be equally successful. I also remeber being in Glasgow for one of our earlier conferences when our membership was much smaller than today's current membership, which stands at over 700. Reflecting back on that earlier conference I recall approximately 30 delegates. it is thanks to the hard work and dedication of those earlier committee members that our conference has eveloved into what it is today.
This year we have changed the format of the conference. We are going to have 2 sessions running concurrently which will be on advanced and basic dermatology. Members will be able to move between the advanced and basic sessions during the coffeee breaks. This will provide more freedom and choice for delegates to attend different topics from both sessions that are relevant to their clinical practice. The workshops contain some topics that have not been covered in the past such as nail surgery and Botox. One of the sessions that I particularly enjoy is the interactive cases and I hope some of you will present your interesting or difficult to manage cases as it is an ideal opportunity to share ideas and experience.
I am pleased to say that this year's President Reception will be held at the Burrell Collection, which is one of Glasgow's many wonderful museums. I hope you will all attend as it a great opportunity to meet up with past and present colleagues. I look forward to seeing you in Glasgow and hope you enjoy the conference.
